Original Goodyear Welted shoes have always been associated with excellence and superior workmanship. This construction process is expensive, time consuming and requires highly skilled craftsmanship. For instance, more than 60 craftsmen are involved in the process of manufacturing one of our Goodyear shoes, requiring more than 120 production steps, from beginning to end
Invented hundreds of years ago, Goodyear is still considered one of the finest method of shoe construction today. The construction get its strength, durability and repair qualities by stitching the upper leather, lining leather and welt (a specially prepared piece of leather) to the ribbing that has already been bonded to the insole. The welt is then stitched to the leather or rubber sole. It is this final stitch, holding the sole in place, which we can cut through enabling complete removal of the sole without causing damaging the upper.
Experts recognize Blake-stitched shoes by their soles: the insole is sewn directly to the outsole. Blake-stitched shoes such as loafers don’t have cork bottom fillers or any additional layers of insulation.
Patina is an art crafted and designed for shoes by Olga Berluti, member of the famous French brand Berluti which took the world by storm in the 80’s.
Hand coloring of shoes was then a fairly new thing in the world of luxury shoes and leather products. The patina art craft method is a hand dyeing procedure of leather, which creates a completely unique patina with an aged effect.
The procedure begins with unfinished crust leather, which has been tanned and handled, but not dyed yet. The artist applies the dyes manually to the uncut hide and the fully assembled shoe, with the usage of white cloths, brushes and sometimes sponges, to create a unique look on each and every pair of shoes.
With attentive care and superior savoir-faire, a dedicated craftsman perfects the personality of each pair of shoes, helping forge their special “soul”
The Clicking Department is the first stage of production. The highly skilled Clickers (whose name derives from the “click|sound made when the knife is removed from the leather) use predetermined patterns to intricately cut the shoe’s uppers and linings. Each Clicker design and grind the blade of their knives to their own personal tast and working preference.
This style is produced using our most famous shoe last, which features a round toe for a classic english look. The Zurigo last is a perfect choice for either a casual look or a more contemporary shape to wear with formal clothes. The classic fit and slight almond toe creates a beautiful last with a timeless and versatile shape.
This style features the Monti shoe last, versatile and stylish in equal measure. With it’s long elegant vamp finishing with a soft chisel toe profile it is just as suited to casual Chelsea boots as it is formal lace up suit shoes. The classic nature of the toe shape means that it’s a timeless style statement.
Every lather shoe requires care if you want them to last long.Clean and polish them before and after every wear.
